Our commitment to sustainable viticulture

Vincenzo Bossotti

The expressive richness of our wines is the most precious gift of the land we cultivate – the same land in which we have decided to live.

As a result, we have chosen to adopt a form of viticulture with a low environmental impact, rooted in the sustainability of long-term crops and the wholesomeness of our wine and of the environment in which it is produced. In the vineyard, we have reduced the number of treatments to the bare minimum, using recovered rainwater and coating products.

We do not use herbicides and we favour cover cropping, essential for fighting erosion and ensuring the vitality of the subsoil.

Terre di Chiesa

Vincenzo Bossotti

Once owned by the Episcopal Curia, this wonderful vineyard covers about 2 hectares in Lemonte, east of Cisterna d'Asti, not far from our cellars. The area is cultivated entirely with Croatina, a native vine historically linked to the area. The rows revolve around a hilltop on which stands a wayside shrine dedicated to the Madonna. The loose, light coloured, sandy and silty soils, with clay veins rich in micro-elements, make for the perfect grapes for our Cisterna d'Asti Superiore Doc.

San Rumè

Vincenzo Bossotti

The vineyard of San Rumè, measuring about 2.5 hectares, lies to the north-east of Cisterna d’Asti, to the left of Val Mellana, in the direction of San Damiano d’Asti. The area takes its name from the ancient chapel of Saint Remigius, the patron saint of vineyards. This is one of the historical plots of the Bossotti family, and has always been cultivated with Barbera, which benefits from the soil’s more clayey and silty texture, resulting in an excellent structure. The highest part is harvested to produce our San Rumè Barbera d’Asti Docg. The hill of San Rumé is also home to our “experimental” orchard: 150 plants of peaches, plums, apples and apricots from ancient varieties that we use for the production of homemade juices and jams.

Camilin

Vincenzo Bossotti

In an area of about 1.5 hectares, located in the Vèngore Valley, stands a spectacular amphitheatre under vine that opens up just north of Cisterna d'Asti. Well exposed to the south-east, it features light coloured, loose, sandy and silty soils. Soils that enhance the minerality of the Arneis grapes vinified for our Camilin Terre Alfieri Arneis Docg.

Mompillone

Vincenzo Bossotti

Mompillone rises just below the Terre di Chiesa vineyard. It consists of about 1.5 hectares of rows of Nebbiolo, Arneis and Barbera. Reorganised in 2018, it features a blend of sandy and silty soils, with some hints of clay. Light coloured soils and exposure to the east contribute to the creation of soft coloured wines. This feature is particularly well expressed in our Mompillone Terre Alfieri Nebbiolo DOCG.
