History

Passion for land and wine.

Vincenzo Bossotti

Our story begins with Grandpa Domenico and his passion for our land and wine. He founded the original company in the 1940s, flanking, as was customary, the cultivation of grapevines with livestock farming and the cultivation of fruit and vegetables.

Domenico soon bought the vineyards of San Rumè, just outside Cisterna d’Asti, which form the historical core of our plots and from which we obtain our best Barbera grapes. Back then, working the land was hard work. So much so that Domenico's son, Vincenzo, was briefly enticed into a different profession. He studied and worked for a few years in the graphics industry, until, in the 1980s, he decided to return to his native land. He took up his father’s teachings, acquired new land, and ferried the old farm towards a specialisation in wine production. This was a gesture of love and courage, a way to re-enter into contact with that nature that had always been the essence of his character and passion.

Alongside the wines, Vincenzo continued to look after the orchards that had always been a part of the agricultural landscape of Cisterna d’Asti. Orchards that our family nurtures to this day in its San Rumè estates, fostering the beauty of biodiversity.

The legacy of Grandpa Domenico and his son Vincenzo now underlie the work of Vincenzo’s daughter, Cristina, and her husband Davide. It is their responsibility to meet the challenges of the new millennium, combining care for the land with the family spirit of the wines produced, springing from an unswerving passion handed down through the generations.
